Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad Abd al-Muhsin al-Ansari is a contemporary scholar of Islamic education and an assistant professor in the Department of Education at the College of Da‘wah and Usul al-Din at the Islamic University of Madinah.
Academic Work and Educational Thought
Al-Ansari's scholarship focuses on the foundations and methodology of Islamic pedagogy derived from scriptural sources. In his study Ma‘alim Usul al-Tarbiyah al-Islamiyyah min Khilal Wasaya Luqman li-Ibnihi ("Landmarks of the Foundations of Islamic Pedagogy Through the Counsels of Luqman to His Son"), published in the Journal of the Islamic University of Madinah, he examined the pedagogical principles articulated in the Quranic narrative of Luqman's advice to his son in Surah Luqman.
Employing an analytical and inductive method (al-manhaj al-tahlili al-istinbati) grounded in works of Quranic exegesis (tafsir), he deduced four core foundations of Islamic upbringing from the passage:
- Islamic creed centered on monotheism (tawhid)
- Mindfulness of God (muraqabat Allah)
- Acts of worship (al-‘ibadat)
- Social etiquette and interpersonal conduct (al-adab al-ijtima‘iyyah)
He framed these principles as an integrated reference model intended for parents, educators, and teachers in nurturing upcoming generations.
