Scholarship

Al-Majlisi contributed to the fields of prophetic biography (sira) and Maliki jurisprudence. In prophetic biography, he composed Nuzhat al-Afkar fi Sharh Qurrat al-Absar, a comprehensive commentary on the didactic poem Qurrat al-Absar fi Sirat al-Nabi al-Mukhtar by Abd al-Aziz al-Lamati . In jurisprudence, he authored Thiman al-Durar fi Tabyin Ma'ani al-Mukhtasar, an eight-volume abridgment of his father's extensive commentary on Mukhtasar Khalil, as well as a dedicated commentary on the estate and inheritance section of the same text (Sharh Tarkat Khalil) .
