Abd al-Aziz Awad Salman al-Juhani is a contemporary historical researcher known for his scholarly study and textual reconstruction of early regional history, Marwiyyat Kitab Akhbar al-Madina (Reports from the Book of the History of Medina) .
Scholarly Contribution
Al-Juhani's research focuses on the historiography and topography of Medina, particularly the recovery of early lost sources . His primary work, published by the Medina Research and Studies Center in 1440 AH, is dedicated to gathering, documenting, and analyzing the surviving transmissions of Akhbar al-Madina, an early historical work authored by Yahya ibn al-Hasan al-Alawi al-Aqiqi (d. 277 AH / 890 CE) that had been lost over time .
In this study, al-Juhani extracted al-Aqiqi's dispersed reports along with their chains of transmission (asānīd) from later historical and biographical compendia that drew upon the original manuscript, such as al-Samhudi's Wafa al-Wafa bi-Akhbar Dar al-Mustafa, Zayn al-Din al-Maraghi's Tahqiq al-Nusra bi-Talkhis Ma'alim Dar al-Hijra, and al-Salihi al-Shami's Subul al-Huda wa al-Rashad . Through his textual collation, al-Juhani precisely calculated 226 narrations cited by al-Samhudi from al-Aqiqi's work .
Al-Juhani organized these collected transmissions both chronologically and thematically into distinct subjects, covering the Prophet's arrival in Medina and the initial construction of the Prophet's Mosque; the subsequent architectural expansions and inscriptions through the eras of the Caliphs and successive periods; the chambers and houses surrounding the mosque; the narrations regarding the death of the Prophet ﷺ, his burial, and the graves of his two companions; as well as the battles and landmarks of Mount Uhud, the virtues of Medina, the Quba Mosque, and other historical mosques across the city . His analysis also examined al-Aqiqi's methodology as a reliable transmitter of Medina's early history and clarified obscure geographical landmarks and personal names mentioned across the transmitted accounts .

List of Works
This academic study reconstructs, documents, and analyzes the surviving transmissions of the lost historical work Akhbar al-Madina by Yahya ibn al-Hasan al-Alawi al-Aqiqi (d. 277 AH / 890 CE). It gathers the scattered citations and narrations of the early regional history preserved across later literature, assembling its contents alongside their chains of transmission while examining al-Aqiqi's historical methodology.
